How many preteens or teens for that matter do you know in the school system who can construct whole sentences and have meaningful conversations beyond pop-culture?
Love the Essay, we are homeschooling our three kids (4th, 3rd, and 1st) and wouldn't go back. I was also homeschooled through the 3rd grade. The artificial socialization of our kids by strict age segregation hasn't existed in history, and doesn't exist upon graduation from high school.
I've said before that sending your kids to school to be socialized is like taking your dog to the dog park to be socialized. The second they enter they'll be bullied, humped, harassed, and mobbed by a bunch of dogs who's owners are ambivalent. I don't want that for my dogs, and I don't want that for my kids.
People also used to ask me how I trained my dog so well and I said it's the same as raising a kid. Don't let it do what you don't want it to do. And then I realized people don't train their kids either :)

And yet there it is…..that artificial socialization in the schools. Enjoy your homeschooling years, they are wonderful!

I absolutely loved this take on socialization
